They will say about anything to get out of warranty work. I'm pretty sure they have to prove that your nittos were the direct cause of your tranny ****** up though.

If your warranty was black listed for street legal Nittos .. The corporate offices of the warranty company and Nitto should and would get a note from me .. Nitto doesn't want to be known as not warranty friendly because that will drastically hurt their sales.
On a side note about your transmission .. If they see the de-screened MAF then they might blame that since that does affect line pressure in the transmission .. Never mess with the MAF in a A4 unless you are getting it tuned ..

Descreening a MAF does not affect the line pressure, cutting out the center metal section on the other can. I have descreened several vehicles I have owned and never once has it affected line pressure or, believe it or not, warranty work. It all comes down to how **** the dealership is you go to and how far you are willing to push to get the work done.

just ask them to prove that it was the tire fault, they could void the warranty on the wear on tires, but not the brand, but if they give you problems just call the dealers regional people, then the dealer will give in

I had a rearend fixed twice in my 95 with heads and a cam in it. It all depends on the dealership.
I would raise some serious noise. Like others have said, they are a street legal tire.

Out of warranty now and I don't have a lot of original drivetrain parts left. Fortunately I never needed the warranty except for the brake rotor on that one occasion. Had I needed the warranty I would have raised hell.

Wow, that's the biggest crock of crap I've heard for a dealer voiding a warranty on the boards. You smoke those nittos straight to that dealer and raise hell for them to honor their freaking warranty. Like the others have said, it's a dot approved, street legal tire.
Next thing you know, they'll want everyone to put some vaseline on the tire tread so you won't be fugging up trannies.
