Exclamation Having a radiator fan issue, not kicking on.

Car is a 93', the a/c fan turns on and i can jump the DLC points to turn them both on but the car will run into the red on the temp gauge and the fans wont kick on.

Started happening couple days ago. Relays are good and I put a new temp sensor in and still nothing.

Ideas?

Are 93's mechanically/thermostatically controlled or through the PCM?

Wish I had my manual in front of me but the 93-94 cars are similar.

I had the same issue on my 94 for a while. I was able to have my tuner fix it in the PCM but before he got to it I installed a manual switch as a mean time fix. Worked like a charm. I still use it on hot days in traffic to keep the fans on.

They are controlled just like the other years. You need a scanner to see what temps the computer is seeing and what it is telling them to do.

Any place that sells an OBD-I scanner. The internet is a big place. Or you can go the software+laptop/PC and cable route.

He says the fans turn on with the a/c and with the DLC jumped, so circuitry is fine.

Yeah I wasn't sure what the jumping actually did. So it grounds the relay on the coil?

Oh yeah bumping this thread, I replaced my water pump and everything works fine. No clue why but that was my fix for those who could possibly have a similar issue.
