Default wheel stud???? press or screw??

when pressing in either front or rear wheel studs and upgrading from the
12mm to 1/2" version do they fit without having to drill the flange?? i dont know what my car has but i wanna replace with some arp studs. i do know they are longer but brand i dont know??

rear axles are strange s/t 35 spline. are they press or screw?
part numbers for front and rear will help too, im looking at the 3", strip car only
considering that the 1/2" is an upgrade there are a few to choose from so i wann get the right ones first time
thanks

Strange S/S axles are induction hardened, leaving modifications to be done by a machinist or preferably by Strange. The S/S axles are designed for street use and are not the ideal choice for a strip only car.

Hope this helps.

Do You have them? If so I would send them to Strange, have them drill a new set of holes for the studs You want.

The axles come with screw in studs and would have to be removed from the rearend to be drilled, why do You want to replace them?

well i just bought this car in november and as im going through it i noticed my rear wheels have the wrong lug nuts, while doing some research i read some horror stories on studs breaking. its a mwc fab 9" by the way with a spool.
i also read that if they are ARP brand they will not collect rust as mine are in the pics???

also noticed the front wheel studs are different from one side to the other

im running a 415 motor with a 200 shot on slicks wth a brake

My suggestion would be to use a shoulder style lug nut that has a straight shank going nearly all the way through to the back side of the wheel.

Like the pic in post #1.

i have something like that on mine.. think they were called ET lugs or something.. they just fill the void so there is no slack when you launch hard.. i had stock acorns and bent all 5 so i went to long ARP with the new style lug nuts and feel alot better now about it..
might be able to see the lug nuts in the pic

Check the size of the studs on the rear... chances are they are 1/2", but if the original customer ordered the rearend with 12mm then I would suggest to change them out. If the rear studs are indeed 1/2" size then the ones from Strange that are installed in the axles will be as good as the ARP units. The front studs are plenty strong with 12mm size and the ARP direct replacement will be a good choice if you want to go that route.

As far as rust on the rear studs goes next time you remove the wheels just clean up the studs with a wire brush and apply anti-seize or even a shot of WD-40 or similar will prevent that.

What you have is as strong as the ARP studs in the same size. Make sure to keep the proper torque on the lugs and you should be fine.
