Default 2014 Z28 LS7 incoming?

With the rumors circulating on the web. With proof a LS7 is coming in the 2014 model year. Why not package it in a lite weight Camaro?

2014 Camaro Z28 LS7. Calling it. With handling package and weighing 3,600.

LS7 link

Any links to back up the claims of that 3600lb's? That would put GM back on the map.

The Z28 was the nothing fancy, big power, light weight car in the 60's right?
I bet the LS7 required intake, mid pipe and exhaust would save 100 lbs.

-100 lbs LS7 header, mid and cat back
-50 lbs wheels (no Crome crap)
-100 lbs Recaro bucket seats and rear no power setting (maybe rear delete like the Mustang Boss)

3,600 with no driver.

-100 lbs Carbon hood, trunk, fenders (not realistic)

3,500 lbs.

so your just basing this off of your gut? Got excited actually thought they had rumors of making it that light. What they say in your links is it will essentially be the same 5th gen chassis with an LS7.

"Interestingly, the VIN card doesn't indicate any new Camaro models for the 2014 model year, such as the long-rumored Z28, indicating the LS7 could be stuffed between the fenders of one of the current Camaro models. However, we can't totally rule out that some kind of special model is under development."

Hopefully not. The Camaro SS has plenty of power as it sits. Just make it loose weight and out handle BMWs like they did with the BOSS.

A z28 should not out power a zl1 it should outhandle it.

GM has a 3,250 lb vehicle with a 7 liter motor, it's called a Z06.

That costs almost twice as much as a camaro. I was speaking more on the Camaro vs Mustang subject. ATM the Mustang is kicking the camaro's *** in almost every category.

Dropping an ls7 into a camaro will also bring the price up of the camaro closer to a base corvette and it would still have to sell cheaper than the current zl1 since a NA ls7 wont be more powerfull.

Ford knows that as long as they make the mustang more powerful than a corvette, they dont have to worry about a camaro outperforming it.

Should be lighter since it will be on the ATS chassis.

None of that is realistic. 100lb loss for different front seats that are still factory approved?

This.

I'm sorry to say this, fans...but you're never going to see Corvette performance in a Camaro at Camaro prices. More and more ppl keep hawking on the future Camaro to become some sort of a bargain-discount 4 seater Corvette. The current Camaro is a plenty great handling car WITH all the extra weight. And if that's not good enough just plop down a bit more dough and get you a Vette.

Outside of maybe not being happy with the Camaro's styling or the Vette's pricing....what's to complain about? Am I missing something?
