Default Installing Pioneer double din with amp and keeping power antenna

I'm installing a pioneer double din in my 2000 ta and all it has is a system remote, no power antenna wire. I know the system remote power up the amp, but how do I keep the power antenna working? Isn't the system remote what powers the antenna too?

what i did with my setup is i put the antena up and then disconected the harness. it looks goofy at times, i would like it to go down at times, but its another part to fail haha, i cant think of a way to wire in a switch i would really like to hear on the volts and how this bloody thing works, i would like to wire into the factory harness or do a toggle switch

I wonder if the illumination wire could be used?

No, the illumination wire won't work unless you only want the antenna up when your lights are on. Use the system remote wire - it provides power whenever the head unit is on. For most head units there is no difference between the blue power antenna wire and the blue/white remote wire. Some head units only power the antenna wire when either AM or FM is the selected audio source but the vast majority leave the antenna up as long as the HU is powered on.

If I use the remote for the antenna what wire would I use to power the amp.

I know this is probably a dumb question and I've installed several systems, just never anyone's with a power antenna

That depends... if you have a Monsoon system and you're not replacing the amp then nothing - the Monsoon amp does not use a remote turn-on wire. Otherwise, just use the same wire. It is quite capable of handling both functions since it only has to provide a low current 12V+ signal to trigger the amp and the antenna - both of them have separate power sources to do the actual work.

Yes the monsoon amp is staying. Just running a mono amp to the sub.

So basically just splice the remote wire to run both? That sounds easy enough.lol
