Default What turbo for my 390ci (T6 Flange)

Ok, I know I made this thread not to long ago but that was when I was trying to go t4 flange. I changed my kit around and now its gonna be a t6.
Looking for 1000whp on e85, trying to not go past 20psi, don't want to buy aftermarket heads. My cam has 10 degrees of overlap as well. I was thinking a GT50-88 or a hp-91 from Borg. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would think a 88 would be alot better for those cubic inches.

Did you ever find out why not a 88? @LS647

The GT50-88 has a 102mm turbine, I thought it would work well with my cam and all. I know a GT-88 can make 1100whp automagic did it on a 408 but it had a ton of boost if I remember right.

I;m certainly no expert on turbos and matching the proper turbo to reach a goal.

But I was going to go single turbo and nobody said I would make my 1,000 RWHP goal with an 88.
I'm now going Modular Turbo TT kit......

Nobody said that. An 88 is plenty of compressor to make 1000 wheel. You were trying to make over 1000 on a 390 with a physically small turbo, which is not happening. You need enough turbine to use all the compressor is capable of giving and not run into backpressure issues.

Superman are you talking about the s400-hp88? Because I was also thinking that or the hp-91.

This is why I'm going MDTT.....over-all the consensus was that I will not reach 1,000 RWHP through my 4L80E..........everyone pretty much said that.

But everyone agreed a 91 or bigger will do the job. But then there's lag.......
Screw the single turbo idea. Too much BS, especially for a street car/roll racer. And after seeing that a single turbo set-up in the end, including labor and fabbing to install.....will be MORE MONEY than the ModTurbo TT kit out the door ready to drive......no brainer.

You could have meet your goals with a Single 88mm, the thing is you want to keep all of your accessories, which is understandable. In order to do that you would have to to run something like a PT88 which wasn't going to happen. A GT50-88 or bigger will make it there.

NOBODY SAID THAT. THE COMPRESSOR WASNT THE PROBLEM, IT WAS THE PHYSICAL SIZE OF THE TURBO REQUIRED AND THE FACT THAT EVERY OPTION WAS TOO BIG TO FIT WITHOUT MOVING ANYTHING. You can make 2000 with a single. There's more to the puzzle than just the compressor.

****....it was physical size...............lol

I see 900 RWHP in the pickup truck as the most I've seen with the 88 and an engine close to a 390ci.

I assume there are people that have made over 1,000 RWHP through a 4L80E.....just haven't heard of any yet.

Where have you been, i would hope 140+lb/min 88s out there can put down 1k whp

Can lock a 80e up on power with a good converter, it is going to dyno better than alot of combos

Idk what koolrayz exact cubes are but he did say over 400. That 88 is making way over 1000 to the tire. That turbo is gigantic.
