01' Z06. High Mileage
01' Z06 with slight mods. 145k miles. Interior and paint 8/10. He's asking 14,500. What should I offer? And is a high mileage LS motor worth messing with?

$12,500 is about as high as id go, and maybe not even that.
Man, I'm not so sure its worth getting into and here's why: With that mileage, you will want to rebuild the motor, which will run you near 6k doin it right, when doing a cam, changing out sensors, and Ported and polished heads, which you mine as well do while your in it. Also, the tranny if it hasn't been built or rebuilt you will want to do, as well as the differential soon after both of those have been done. Right there you're talking $10-12k in repair/rebuilt components. Also, being a vette with that high of mileage you will also want to have money aside for the nickel and dime sensors and electrical things that will go out in the near future.
Vettes are great, especially Z06's, but they like many women are high maintenance! They'll love you right, and then leave you broke!

I would pass unless you can get it for a 'very fair' price and $14,500 isn't even close. As already posted, there is a future maintenance issue looming and you have to be prepared for it. You know that this Z06 will need things, no doubt about it.
If you want to make an offer, $11,000 would be reasonable and would allow $$ for the future needs as they arise. This pricing is provided if the Z06 has no serious issues or Carfax problems. Best of luck!
