Xtreme Performance Transmission - Great Shop, Great Guys
I had my transmission (4L60E) rebuilt by Johnny and Xtreme Performance Transmission back in October 2012. The 3rd and 4th clutch packs started slipping and after an exhaustive search, I settled on Xtreme to do a "built"rebuild.
I have a 1972 240z with an LS1 and 4L60E. Johnny built a unit for me that took into account the light weight of the car and softened the shifts up a bit compared to a normal build. I drove the car to his shop and waited for it. I also opted for a stock convertor replacement (the car weighs 2500 lbs) as the mileage was reported at 90,000 miles when I did the swap.
I've put around 1500 miles on the car since then and have been loving every mile. The shifts are firm but not too firm. Previously, the 1-2 shift would send me spinning if I was not aimed straight due to its harshness.
Johnny worked with me as well and offered a great deal on the transmission and install. For those contemplating a shop for a transmission build and install, you really can not go wrong with Xtreme.
