Raising Exhaust Duration effect SMOG?
I am looking at grinding my own cutom 224/224 .563 .563 114 cam and was wondering if bringing up the duration on the exhaust would affect the SMOG results I would see at time of testing.
The new cam will be going throught a set of Mac Mids w/ catted Y. I was thinking about moving the duration up to 228 on the exhaust side to help with the lack of flow on the Mids and catted Y.
Would this change affect my LSA too? I am still very confused on the whole LSA being a product of valve events.

I meant I am going to have a pro do a custom grind for me with about 224/224 .563 .563 114. I am not doing the grinding. I just meant that I am going to a local shop to have the cam ground.

What I was actually referring to is to make sure and talk to your grinder and get their input about the cam design.
224 is a damn good start. Good choice for duration for a street or street/strip car.

What about raising the Exhaust duration?
What would be your suggestion for a lope profile?
The lobe profile is my biggest falling point, as there isnt much selection on the Internet and I know that lobe profile is THE most important part after duration.

Unless you're planning on using a power adder (nitrous, SC, etc), I would not increase the exhaust duration. The stock heads flow incredibly well and you have headers. Adding exhaust duration isn't going to do you much good.
As far as the lobe profile goes, that is something you have to talk to your grinder about. What lobe you use will depend on availability, your tolerance for valvetrain maintenance, and durability/longevity.
