Kinda just went through this myself. I talked to TEC in Riveria Beach and to forge my ls1 was going to cost in the 3k range. Between rods, pistions, machine work, etc... It adds up quick. I also thought about a 6.0 but unless I was going to put a set of heads on it and build it it wasnt worth it to me considering 6.0s have gone up in price and the added weight. Luckily I found a stock bottom end ls1 with 32k miles for 800 bucks. It was very clean and for my 150 shot would work just fine. Good luck and post some pics when you get it done

put up half the money for the 6.0 already. i was looking for the stuff and came to conclusion that it was way out of my budget. so went and got the 6.0 long block for 1000 I'm going to add my heads and cam from the ls1 and call it a day. hope to make 450 to 470 hp and hit it with 150 200 shot. save some cash and make it a 408.

You sound like you are on the right track now.. I'm not sure what cam you had, but it will probably be a little more mild in the bigger engine, but the heads should wake up nicely with the larger bore size. And now you got a good platform for a later build.
good luck

I think you should be alright with your decision. The 6.0 will make more power on motor than the LS1 did, then just put the kit on it and have fun with it.

i have the ms3 ported 241's with supporting mods. full bolt on's ls1. victor jr intake efi, edelbrock lowpro elbow, th400, and 5000 stall with a trans brake. foot brake on the ls1 1.6 60 7.4x 1/8 @93 mph wide band reading a lil lean on muscle but tires kept braking loose need suspension adjustment.

that what im hoping for. i gotta bust my cuzins ***** with his cobra he running 6 and teens. i went all last year on this build had lots of trans issues and finally got it right. but motor didn't last one track night. i had washed out bearings and still went out. now it just got me to a 6l with more possibilities.

More like 10.4-10.5:1. You have a bigger bore now so you have to take that into consideration.

I run c16 because it is easier to read the plugs with. If you have a good handle on the tune I would say 250 would be a cake walk with that setup

they have been milled twice for cleaning so i don't know if it would make much difference.

Depending on how much was taken off to clean it up. So you might be close to that 10.8:1

Here is a link that shows some. I couldn't find any in Fl. Closest to you is either Ga or Tx.

Here is some info about the fuel.

Blow By racing in Boca raton. Fl carries it and they aren't too far from you.
