This fell out of the oil pan..
I pulled the oil plug and this was stuck to the end of it(engine is out of the car and on the stand.) I can not think of what it might be.

holy cow man that is crazy!! what kind of engine did it come out of and did you start it at all afterwards. nuts man, only bright side of this i guess is if you cant fix it, it is the perfect time for your LS1 to get a major upgrade!!

i believe that is indeed part of the oil pickup tube, ive never torn an ls1 down yet, but torn tons of others down over the years, i dont think the dipstick tube extend that much in to pan, only the stick it self does usualy. my vote oil pickup, it makes sense that it cud still run good as it wud still suck oil up as if a straw in a glass had an inch cut off at the bottom, wud still work. lucky it was stuck to the magnet plug, probly saved your crank/rods/everything!
this is a pic of "ls1 oil pickup tubes, if u imagine the o-ring and collar wud come off when it broke, looks similar

Thats for sure the broken end of a dipstick tube. looks like it broke off right where the o-ring goes.(right side of pic)
The oil pump pickup tube is much larger in diameter and would not even come close to fitting through the drain plug
