Question Moser 9" Differential Question

I bought a Moser 9" axle housing kit back in 2006 and ordered it for a clutch style differential. Moser said they run a 9/16 longer axle on the passenger side because the room is there on a True Trac Differential. So I want to run a true trac and my axle is not the 9/16 longer. Anyone know if it will work? Moser said that long as I have 1" of the axle inside the diff I'll be ok. But who wants to spend $480-500 to find out you need another axle. Anyone can help it would be appreciated.

I wouldn't ask anything like that here... possible bad info may cost you a complete center section rebuild.

Moser cheated the pinion center 1/2" toward the passenger side from stock dimensions so standard offset dimensions won't work.

Best thing to do is hook a tape measure on the inside edge of the side gear(s) and measure out to the inner edge of where the axle bearing seats. Compare this to the axles you have and do whatever is necessary to make it right. If the axle(s) is any more than 1/16" too long then cut it off with an abrasive saw. Chances are if you are going from a clutch posi(traction lock) diff to a Truetrac the left axle will be okj, but you will most likely need a longer right side.

Alright thanks Eric. I dont think I want a true trac that bad. Any other recommendations on a differential that wont require a new axle?

The Wavetrac diff should be a direct swap... the axle lengths are pretty close, but you will still want to check the actual measurement at install. Give me a call... I have a real good price on them.

Link to the Wavetrac, which is by far the best differential to go with. Bob
