Default Manual rack questions

I was thinking about putting a manual on my car since my power rack is leaking. Is it a part time DD (a few days a week/weekend toy) and also a Strip car. I have UMI K-member in the car and would want a rack that would bolt right into that K-member.

So would it be ok to run the manual rack on the street with out sacrificing durablity?

What is the average ET pick up if any in the quarter mile?

Also what is the weight savings when converting over?

Thanks Everyone

We make a nice manual rack kit that will bolt up with your current UMI k-member just fine and is a complete kit so it is a pretty easy install.

Since it is only a part-time DD you want sacrifice any durability when it comes to the manual rack.

You will honestly see very little change as far as ET goes with swapping out to a manual rack.

The weight saving will be somewhere around the 8lb-10lb range, so there is a little weight savings to be had. The real nice thing is that it cleans up the engine bay quite a bit and simplifies the accessories.

It definitely takes more muscle to steer the vehicle with a manual rack especially during any kind of low speed hard turning situations. The amount of effort it takes also varies greatly with the size of tire you are running on the front of the car. A thinner tire with a smaller contact patch will be easier to turn then a wider tire with a large contact patch. If you are contemplating going to manual steering and you drive the car quite a bit I would recommend finding someone local in you area whose car is setup with manual steering and check it out. Some people can deal with the differences and some people can't, it just really depends on what you can tolerate.
