Default Alternator amps 99 Trans Am WS6

Hi my question is My 99 Trans Am WS6 has an Alternator with 145amps and can i use a Alternator with 180 amp or do i have to use a 145amps Alternator.I had to replace my Alternator a few times now.I am running a car Sub woofer box with a kicker amp and when i try the AC the volt meter goes down.If i use a 180 amp Alternator will i burn my ECU computer because of the volts ...I don't if its it safe or do I need one more bat....to run it.

Since I have aftermarket sound system with subwoofer and all, and am planning on a Electric Water pump for future mod, I went with a Power Bastards high output alternator. I'd say go to their website for the details or search the boards for info, it puts out way more than 180amp at high revs. Stay away from high output junk off ebay, they are cheap and junk

Has the charging wire already been upgraded from stock? I ask because, the factory alternator was only 105 amps, so you are already beyond that. 145 amps would probably be fine with the stock wiring, but a bump to 180 amps (especially if you are using enough equipment to actually draw that many amps) might do better with a wiring upgrade.
