Default 1994 z28/m6 wont start..

1994 Z28/m6

Just chagned water pump and opti, test started car with water pump off. car fired right up, and ran perfect. So i finished installing water pump, filled with fluid and and started it up, started with no problems, drove up and down street, about 3 miles total. pulled in drive way and shutt off to let cool down. went back out about 30 mins later to top off antifreeze, car started fine, i let run for about 5mins to warm back up, hopped in put it in reverse and made it about 15 feet before car started breaking up and then stalled. and would not start back up....

now when i crank it over and it will not start, but as soon as i stop cranking, (with the key in the "on" postion) it proceeds to cough thru the intake...

Now i have put a pressure guage on after the fuel pressure regulator, and when i have the key "on" you can hear the pump prime, and the guage reads 39 psi. and will bleed down to 0 after about 45 mins aproximatly.

i have also checked to see if i have spark, pulled cylinder 1 plug wire, and put a spare plug in and cranked the car over, and i have spark at cylinder 1," i havent checked any other plugs yet".

i have also changed the icm and coil to a new set and no change, i havent tested them yet. But will be doing so tomorrow..

sorry for the long post just wanted to get as much info from my perspective, to help anyone in assisting me. this is my first lt1, but not my first time tearing into things. just new with the lt1.
so any happy would be greatly appreaciated

thanks, Jared

What brand of opti would be helpful as well. Did it throw any codes(SES) after it started acting up?

I had a problem like this once. The opti harness was loose. I had driven like 10 miles after a opti swap and it was fine. then it did the same thing your describing. I apparently didnt click the tab on all the way and it backed off a little bit. Worth checking.

all righty, wiggled the connector around on the opti with a long screw driver, cuz i cant get my big hands in there, and it fired right up, shut it down , waited about 10 mins and fired right back up. lol never even crossed my mind to check that end cuz they had it wrapped in shrink tubeing...
thanks for the help!!

Nah...I was in my daily driver. The car is away for a few more weeks while I get the rear fixed.
