Default T56 rebuild for the track

Hey, I am rebuilding my t56 for the first time for the track. I will be running a stock ls1 motor and wanted to know what are the components that should be upgraded. So far from my research I will upgrade the 3-4 shift fork to a steel one. Do I need up upgrade to billet keys, and bronze pads. Any suggestions? Thanks

I would definitely look at the basic things like billet shift keys, upgraded 3-4 fork and a basic freshen up. On top of that, I would do a main shaft upgrade, a 2nd gear upgrade if it still has the original gear in it.

Default Rebuild

I just got done rebuilding mine. I upgraded my 1-4 gears setup. Bronze pads for 1-2 and 3-4, Steel Shift fork for 3-4, Billet Keys 1-4 and springs. I only built up 1-4 being the ones to experience more abuse.. If your tearing through 5-6....? No need too. Rebuilding is easy.. Plenty of writeups and the GM manual helps a lot. Ifyou have any questions let me know. Grease everything as you rebuild!

I went with the stage two rebuild by Texas Drivetrain Performance and am very happy with the outcome. Very solid, precise, shifts. I really don't know if the carbon shift rings helped or just having the trans rebuilt but it feels much more precise and solid rowing through the gears.
