Default ordered GM part #12610716 (LSA head), received 0821 casting in 12610716 box

I ordered a set of LSA heads from Summit Racing and received 2 boxes from the GM dealership they use in one of their Summit boxes. Both GM boxes said 12610716, but inside were 2 different heads.

One head was the LSA head casting I'm familiar with:

The other head was the casting I know as the LS3 head:

Thankfully the 0821 casting head was also damaged on the deck during shipping, so summit is replacing it without having to dig into why different casting heads are in the same part number boxes and explain the differences to get the right LSA heads out of summit for my build.

Just was curious if anyone else had run into this, and if there were LSA heads that were actually 0821 castings?

No LSA heads are 821 castings. You got a mislabeled head.

Got them for $387 shipped new for the set of bare heads, seemed like a deal. Plus I'm running ferrea valves and bt spring kit, so bare worked best.

Yea, don't know how they made it into the big summit box, but the individual boxes came from a gm dealer and were both marked with the lsa part numbers.

We would like to apologize for any delay the shipping damage has caused to your build. I see you have spoke with a phone agent and they have placed the order for your new head today. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Thanks!

Everyone I've worked with at summit has been very helpful getting all of this sorted out. It's really beyond your control what some other company's employee (GM? GM's casting contractor?) decides to put in the box that gets labled with an LSA part number.

It's unfortunately that the heads are listed as a backorder item and may take some time to arrive, but I appreciate the efforts to get me the correct cylinder head.

For the set.

I price matched with a popular GM parts website, but ordered through summit since I like their 24/7 staffing w/ good customer service and thought they were bigger and might get the heads faster off back order.
