Default which rear end on a budget?

is the 8.8 rear pretty much status quo for building a low budget fbody? How much abuse can the stock z rear take before exploding? iron headed non stroked small block, right much nitrous, th350 with NO tbrake...the 8.8 is tired and i have a stock z rear lying around. Will it hold up for a season?

You talking about the 10 bolt? It holds up pretty decent in the 1.6 or slower range, anything faster and it could go any second. I wouldn't trust it on anything getting down decent in the 60'.

A good low cost way to go that bolts right in is to use the above Moser 9 inch housing and axle package. Pick up a used Ford 9 inch center section and install it, and run it this way until you can afford to put a stronger aftermarket center section in it. Bob

Stock Ford center/posi aint no stronger then a 10 bolt. Hold out for something nice to go in there. The axle housing package is one of the better budget options to start with though.

An 8.8 with some money into it can go far. If you want something bullet proof, go with a 9".
