Default fox body mustang sbc swap

I am doing a sbc swap on a 89 hatchback mustang. engine came out of a 92 z28 w/a 700r4 tranny. i want to keep the stock k member for now. any ideas on what motor mounts to use? or go with solid mounts? its going to be a daily driver.

there is a sbc section on this site

https://ls1tech.com/forums/small-blo...y-specific-92/

i recommend the AJE k-member and it will make your life much easier.

***edit***

I just saw that you posted on my build thread

To each their own, but I can't imagine wasting the time or resources putting that motor in anything. You should sell it and buy a 5.3, or for that matter a 5.0 sbf.

I wouldn't waste my time putting that engine & trans in anything other than a scrap yard. Do yourself a favor though & buy a K-member & save a lot of time & hassle

The motor is pretty solid. Fresh rebuilt. .030 over master kit. Polised crank and rods. Gapless rings.highly Ported and polished 305 HO heads. Flat top pistons. Stock cam. Edelbrock performer intake, edelbrock 600 cfm manual choke carb. 1.6 roller rockers. The tranny is a 700r4 with shift kit and corvette servo.

I'm going to be putting my money on my actual build. Ls3 will be built out of car on the kmember, once ready ill just drop it in.

I'm tired of ford blocks. Had 2 blocks split with a mild build.

you just said it right there. you plan on getting a k-member for the future ls3 swap. its the same motor mounts for a SBC, BBC and LSX on the AJE k-member. just get it now.

That sbc anchor you're describing sounds like it'll lay down a whopping 220whp, honestly. Sounds like you could sell it for a good start towards a gen 3 or 4, though.

You split two sbf Fords with "mild" builds? Not sure what you consider mild, but unless you're definition is something in excess of 550whp something's being done wrong in the bottom end. For that matter, a 351w will take a lot more abuse than a 302.

Dropped the motor and tranny in on sunday. Ran into clearance issues with the Gen 1 SBC stock oil pan. it hits the k member. i'm going to go with the AJE k-member after all BUT i have read in multiple thread in here that the stock oil pan will not fit the k-member. Will I still be stuck with oil pan clearance issues??

No wonder, the engine is like 5 inches too far forward. Sucks having a huge *** distributor in the back.

Why are you making it hard for yourself? the oil pan i have on my motor is a moroso 6 qt deep pan for an 82-92 camaro. and it fits the AJE k-member fine. IDK where you are getting your info from but i woulnd go back there again. Here is my Mustang, it fits fine.
