Default HP Tuners

Im about to buy HP Tuners with wideband and 02s. I'm wondering is HP Tuners hard to learn or is it pretty easy to learn. Thanks for your help

it is not simple but if you give it some time studying it wil start to sink in like anything else.

hp tuners has a very good forum and there are pently of options out there to help learn how to approach tuning properly. for short money like $17 you could buy the book advanced engine management & tuning by Greg Banish which gives a great overview of the why's and how's. there is the tuning school learn at home course and tuning schools you can attend to learn how to tune on a dyno.

You are fortunate that ls1's are a very popular platform to tune so theres a lot of info out there including on this forum.

It sounds like you havent bought your hp tuner yet? if you havent do yourself a favor and buy the pro model so you can plug your wideband right into the eio port on the side of the tuner instead of having to wire it through egr and the pro has a greater sampling rate ( my terminology may be incorrect on this) but anyhow you get more data points to base your tune on . there are other reasons its better but where you mentioned getting a wideband also it just makes sense to go that way. I started out with hp tuners standard and then sold it and bought the pro and a wideband so I am trying to help save you a step.

agreed. When my base model hp tuner interface was stolen i used the insurance money and got the Pro, which i should have gotten in the first place. I'm steadily learning to tune though, i can do a few neat things already but the biggest hurdle for me right now is SD tuning the VE table.

Thanks for the help and info. I'm buying the software from the guy that tuned my car. I'm not sure which one it is but when I find out I will let both of you know. I can't pass up the deal the price I'm getting it for..

That happened to me, are you using the CD or the downloadable one off the Hp tuners forum? Use the CD if you can if not look for the latest beta version of it, otherwise your app key wont work right

I would e mail : support@hptuners , they do not have phone support everything gets done through support e mail , stay calm give him whatever info he asks for and you will get taken care of

Bill (support) will get you taken care of but I wouldnt expect a reply until monday.

give him the serial number on the tag on your interface , what application key your trying to use , and a screenshot of the screen telling you whats wrong - he may ask you for more , maybe an info log but that should get the ball rolling.

The Interface was not found or is not responding.Verify its connected properly and that vehicles diagnostic part has power...

Home
The Interface was found but no vehicle power was detected verify cable is connected and key is in the run position,Also make sure the diagnostic part has power and its fuse is good..

Yeah, I had some trouble on windows 7. You may have to install drivers off of their website for vista too. I can't remember.
