I know this subject has been beat to death, but I cant seem to find anyone who has pacesetters headers and does't daily drive the car.

I have a 95' z28 and I've been looking at headers for spring, the car is only driven on nice sunny days, I mean the odd time i get caught in the rain but that's it. No salt, hardly any rain (maybe twice a summer).

Do pacesetters still rust out or can i expect at least 5-10 years out of them.

I would like hookers, kooks or stainless works but its hard to justify spending 1000+ when I also want to buy and engagement ring this year lol If the pacesetters will last like 5 years ill get kooks headers to replace them then

The car is garage kept all year long.

You shouldn't have a problem. I've had mine for 5+ years, and I occasionally drove in the snow. They are a little discolored, but they aren't rusty.

I bought mine used with barely any corrosion. Had them on the car for about 5 yrs and they have started to rust a bit but still not bad. Been caught out in the rain quite a bit. My Jet Hot lt's have been on my 95 for about 7-8 yrs and are about the same as the pacesetters on the 94. Yeah the quality might not be as good as hookers or jet hot but for the extra couple hundred more its not really a night and day difference. Stainless is a totally different ballgame. They shouldnt rust other then discoloring through a couple head cycles.

Stay away from road salt and if they have a quality coat on them they will last.

Like any mild steel header they will eventually rust. Just keep in mind that the ceramic coating is for heat retention, NOT rust prevention.

If you want a good looking header that will stay good looking, get a set of stainless headers ceramic coated.

Bought my car in 2009, I put the headers on. Had 95k on it. Has 108k now. Still look good.

I also live in Michigan.

Also any recommendations on y-pipes, I'd prefer catted but I can get away without i can get hot emissions tests.

Would be better to get it fabbed at an exhaust shop?

If I had to do it again I would do a true dual with x pipe. Throw some chambers or GMMG on it for good measure.

My pacesetters' collectors look like a huge bag of ******* since it was DD'd and driven in winter/salt for 3 years. The engine bay side isnt horrible, but there is a bit of rust around where the primarys meet the flange, and anywhere there was a weld. As you go down the primarys though, it gets worse and worse. That being said, its been 6 years, and only 2 of those years have been garaged.

For the price of Pacesetters, or close to it, you can get some of those stainless OBX headers.
