Default first camaro problems

hey guys, i just saved a stock 98 t-top camaro for $1500. the body is near perfect. problem is the motor knocks a bit on cold starts, and it sounds like it's a bit starved for air in 1st gear, maybe need new intake manifold? once it gets going though it sounds fine.

wanna add more power to it also, because this motor will go in my 91 s10 and i'll be getting a LS1 down the road

any suggestions guys?

Not to sure about the V6. I know my LS1 has a noticeable motor knock mainly on cold starts. Usually goes away after everything is warm. For the lack of air, check for any leaks in the intake system?

thanks, will do. i went ahead and put in new plugs and wires today also. i was thinking about adding a bit more power to it. what do you suggest besides a cold air intake, intake manifold, and catback exhaust?

LS1s are well known for piston slap especially on cold starts. Eventually your wrist pins will crawl their way out and make a nasty gouge in the side of your cylinder wall which will then require you to sleeve it. This is what happens in my case. I would be counting down the days until you need a rebuild man. Steal on the car though! Is it stick?

i wish it was a stick, that's the only down side about it. runs awesome now after the tune-up though. crate 350 or Ls1 is the next question

never ever put an iron cast 350 in a 98 camaro. It's LS1 at a minimum. If I were you I would invest in a 454 lsx
