I put mine out in the cowl vent inlet under the plastic.
Conveniently close to the PCM; just tapped into the
wires near the connector (beware, there are two purple
wires close together and one of them is the wrong one).
A little sensitive to direct sunlight, when parked, but
nothing like being in the engine bay.
I used a same-curve thermistor from Digi-Key since it
was smaller, had leads to solder and was plenty cheap.
