So Im kinda pissed right now. I went to one of the local performance shops to get a price and a little info on getting a bigger cam installed. The guy that runs the shop basically kicked LT1 motors in the ***** every possible way someone could.

LT1s arent reliable, there not a small block chevy motor or LS1, you could get a 6.0 liter motor out of a junk yard and build it cheaper, your best bet is to put a Ls1 motor in your car. If you put a bigger cam in your car its a complete waste of money and time and your probably going to spin a bearing. You will need a bigger oil pan and oil pump. LT1 computers are basic and no were near as good as LS1 computer.

The list goes on. Also mentioned several times how he absolutely hates working on LT1s because their a pain in the ***.

I walked in feeling good walked out pissed. The way he talked I might aswell throw my motor away.

get used to it. the LT1 is the worst motor ever built because it had an optispark that fails every 20 miles.

F**k him ,there are plenty of good mechanics that work on lt1's.Do it yourself its not that hard and you get all the satisfaction . As far as opti sparks go mine never has given me any trouble, most who have trouble bought junk after market optis.

Run a OEM Opti. Won't have problems.

LT1s are considering to be the last 'Small Block Chevys'.

The LT1 computer is ancient to a LS1. You can convert the LT1 to 24x setup, run a Megasquirt, or convert to Carb and Distributor.

LT1s are capable of making over 1000hp.

You can get a LQ4 from a junkyard and build it cheaper but then you have to swap it into the car, wire harness and everything.

It's a blessed curse. A great way to get a length or maybe two and possibly even the jump in a race.

Dude, keep your LT1. I have a 94 TA, presently with a 2800 stall & 373's. Also has the cheap HPP for a " tune ", a flowmaster muffler. It has alot of other repairs and modifications. I think my 3rd opti, but MSD i think. Its black , needs paint though, some what lowered, with OEM chrome 5 star 16 " wheels. I've found alot of parts at u-pull junkyards. Now has a 150 mph gage instrument panel, has power antenna, and soon a hi wing spoiler. Just put in new seats last week, B plus condition. Had the cracked dashpad re-covered in marine vinyl. Has the honey comb taillights. And did i mention the LT1 sound ?.............I also have an 02 TA M6, black t-tops, ram air hood, etc. Its nice, but for some reason, I get more compliments on the LT1. So, with that said, get an LS1 car and keep both. Also , no matter what anyone tells you, a stock motor with a higher stall and gears, is plenty fast for around town. Also, my LS1 with the same exact flowmaster, does not sound at all like the LT1. ................oh , also has 2- 12" subwoofers, great for DNB.

having an LT1 is a win/win scenario

nobody will brag about beating an LT1 and everyone will make fun of you for losing to an LT1

Work on it your self, you might screw up but at least you'll learn. Far as Lt1 hate, yawn been hearing it for 13 years now. If the worse you can talk trash to me about is my car, then I must be doing o.k. Most people who put some one down for a car they own is generally speaking a giant tool bag or trying to compensate for the fact having a cool car is the only thing they have going for them to their message board friends. Out side of the wide world of interwebz or car stuff no one gives a rats *** about lt1s or ls1s.

The LS motors are obviosuly superior, but they're also about twice the price when comparing two comperable condition/mileage cars.

You got an LT1? Should have got an LS1 fbody. You got an LS1 Fbody? Should have got a Corvette. You got a Corvette? Should've got a Z06. You got a Z06? Should have got a ZR1. You got a ZR1? Should have got a Lambo. You got a Lambo? Should have got a better Lambo. You got a better Lambo? Should have got a Bugatti. You got a Bugatti? Should have got a ****** space ship.

Ya can't win with handi-tards.
