Default Interesting results with alcohol injection NON-ls1 engine

Hi all,

Ok so this is NOT an LS1 but I just finished tuning this car last week for a customer and it impressed me. I figured that you guys might like to see it as well. The customer had installed direct port meth injection and was spraying denatured alcohol from home depot.

Mods:
Stock ECU ceddy mods SD w/ OMNI 4 bar map and gm IAT
Ebay SMIM
greddy bov
big fmic
stock crank
wiseco pistons
manley forged rods
Kelford 272's
stock TB
ebay and homemade turbo kit
HX40 turbo BEP housing (stock cummins turbo)
93 pump gas
1 x 10gal/hr nozzle pre turbo comp
4 x 4gal/hr nozzles direct ported in the runners
Spraying Denatured Alcohol from Home depot

I previously tuned this car about 6 months ago and it made about 490 on a dyno jet with an hx35 and 32psi, at that time it only had one meth nozzle pre Throttle Body it was a 10gal/hr nozzle.

This time around I suggested that we try direct injecting it at each runner that way it would be evenly distributed so we could push the setup really hard.

We started off with the stock MAF and obviously it pegged pretty early.
So we decided to give speed density a shot, so I re-wrote the stock ROM for SD operation.

The alcohol kicks on at 10psi.

Also there is not much timing at all in this tune so it made this power with about 5 degrees less timing than I could have put in it. I wanted a little bit of safety in the tune in case the pump fails LOL!

This car made retarded power and held copius amounts of boost without pre detonating at all. We got her up to 43psi before the spark started blowing out.

Here is the Dyno Sheet:

I absolutely cannot wait to try this on an LS motor, and my syclone

If anyone in the South Florida area wants to let me experiment on their car by all means PM me, as I currently don't have anybody willing to try it yet LOL...

thanks for reading,

Rob@modular

Id be curious to see what the IAT difference would be between the runners and before the throttle body. I know thats huge in making power so I wonder if your not giving a decent amount of lowering IATs up

I bet that thing flies though!.

Actually its really interesting,

We are spraying SO MUCH alky that I had to pull the injectors back alot. Its almost running on alky alone.

The consumption is not that bad about a quart on 10 pulls.

What is really cool is that the car is really on using the gasoline to idle and part throttle drive. So the gas mileage is insane. We beat on it for 2 hours and only burned up an 1/8 of a tank of gas

Alky works fine, has for a long time. Our shop car is at 1000rwhp on a fully loaded dyno with 93 octain/methenol injection.Probly be alot higher if a 6 speed instead of blowing through the converter now.

Have you considered going a stage further and building a second fuel system and ruining octane on demand? That way you get a smooth transition from gas to alky depending on what boost you run.

This has been done already by nelson motorsport. Check out their cars. They run 91 oct then 110 oct after x amount of boost or WOT. It's done through a computer. Youtube RX-7 sleeper 1650 hp. He talkes about the set up. It's pretty sick.

Yeah aware of nelosns work. Great stuff and nothing too jhard for an aftermarket ECU to handle.

I've considered doing a port injection of meoh in my FAST intake using the nitrous ports. A friend of mine has it done on his BMW 5 series that is making north of 680rwhp and it's a pretty cool setup.
