Default 355ci forged pistons ring gap info

Hello everyone,
I'm building a 355 with forged pistons and h beams all rotating assembly has been balanced. I have plasmoly rings from Hastings and was wondering what to file the rings at? I'm planing on using a pro charger with a good boost and maybe small bit nitrous as well.
Thanks everyone

According to Mahle min they say on supercharged engine .006 for ever inch of bore. So .006 x 4.030 = .024

Having never built a supercharged engine, I should have kept quiet. Makes sense.
Sorry.

Well I'm sure you can explain the reasoning behind ring gap and how to choose it. I understand the rings will expand in the cylinder when hot but I don't understand what makes one ring gap better than another. Itd be great if you could explain.

Nevermind. Did some reading.

The rings I use recommend .004" per inch bore, that would be .016". I added .002 for the blower, should have just not posted since I never built a supercharged enigne. My appologies.

I have not use hastings for probably 30 years now, but I'm guessing he won't have to file them anything anyway. They always used to have plenty. rebuilder rings normally don't. Race ring sets (often called ".005" over") are tight so you can put them where you want them.

id call hastings the ring packs usually come with info.....IIRC general rule of thumb for a mild FI motor is around .0055xbore diameter for top ring.....second i always gap a bit larger +.0005 over the top in the calculation basically the more heat the ring pack will be exposed to the bigger gap you need last thing you want is to have the ends touch, easiest way to break a landing.....different materials have different thermal expansion rates......call for your specific application

This is some good info. I always forget about the little things like this to make a good running motor.
