Default Gauge Pod Help

I bought my car with this gauge pillar already in, but no gauges in it. I figured somebody ran the **** out of it and just removed the gauges when they traded it in, but I took it off to put my own gauges in it, and it looks like it's a custom made stock pillar because it still has the foam on the back and one of the gauges is right where a clip is, so how in the hell am I supposed to get gauges in this thing?... Pictures attached. You can see where the clip and foam are in relation to the gauge holes. It looks like i'll have to gut half of it out just to get my gauges in... Any suggestions?

Maybe just drill a hole through the back to run the wiring down the a-pillar.

Well, yeah, but the gauges I have are the style that goes into the mounting hole, then there's a cover that twists onto the back to tighten them down. I can't get in there to do that.

Ohh. Yeah, I think I had issues with the screws as well. Mine were really snug regardless though so I didn't see the need for it.
