Default Are certain colors harder to paint over?

I need to replace a body panel, and it seems near impossible to find a matching sebring silver one in good condition. If I was to find a good replacement in say, black, would the body shop have any more of a difficult time with it than in any other color? It would be painted sebring silver to match of course. I'm just concerned a darker color might change the look of the silver.

Any competent body shop can make it match, it's all in the prep/primer steps. Long story short, once they scuff/fix any imperfections, a high-build primer is sprayed then final sanding done, then you can spray whatever you want on top of it with no risk of "bleed-through".

So to answer your question, the body shop doesn't care what color the panel is when they start.

Side note: Most aftermarket "new" panels are primed in black primer anyways.

Slightly right..... Theres no need to have to prime and block the fender out unless theres alot of scratches in it. Therwise we just spray a sealer on it and blend the paint into the adjacent panels. Silver is one of the hardest colors to match as there are usually a good bit of variances to the color. I can guarantee if you just give the bodyshop a fender and a paintcode it wont match when you go to install it.

No issues with matching or blending, the whole car is going to be painted anyway. Thanks for the peace of mind.

Some body shops keep pics or a book of jobs they have done. Its always nice to see what they have did for others before you get caught up with a vendor. Just remember, the pics they have may have been chosen for a reason.

Im my area I dont trust my GM dealership at all, the Ford dealership has painted parts on my car and did a great job, all the the people they have.
