Default Another Update

Well, its been fighting me all the way, (or the other way around lol) but I did see some progress this past weekend, got a new personal best of 10:15 @135.08. Although it wasn't the 9 second pass I have been chasing after, I'm at least going in the right direction; I also went 10.15, 10.16 (twice 10.18, and did manage to go 135.18 on one pass, so at least it was consistent lol. Converter is way off, I'm still seeing 1500 rpm shift extensions, but that will be getting resolved next week.

Thanks for all of your help Andy!

I cannot lie it did like the .73 jet. The mph is up a ton! I'm not sure what happend with the 60 that day, it has gone 1.39, but that was at night. II think I'll be going back next time at night. I'm also seriously considering a trans brake.

Good job. Mph is definitely there to get easy 9's. Converter will make or break a combo. We just got our new converter from FTI yesterday. Can't wait to get it in there and see how it likes the big jet.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing how your car goes on the big jet also, should fly!

My converter is going to FTI as well, I'm hoping it will make a nice difference. If I can get some help with the 60 and shift extensions I think it will get me that 9 sec pass.

We went ahead and sprung for the triple disk lockup. Also got 3.70 gears on the way from MWC. Looking for some. 9.60's on the .078 jet and then we are going to try and get some weight out of this 3500 lb pig and up the jet. Your car is picking up 28 mph on the backhalf so your tuneup sounds like it is pretty good. We both got some catching up to Andy to do.

Thanks buddy. The trans break is fun!!! I set my 2step to 3800-4000 and let it eat!!! I wish I could get it down into the low 1.4s high 1.3s. I think a gear change is in my future. Probably 3.70s or 3.50s

You guys can do it for sure, that 3.70 gear should help a bit on the back end from the 4.10 I just switched from the 3.42, I think it may be a little too much if end up pilling up some more. My car is at about the same weight as yours, i'd like to get it down another 100 - 150lbs, but I gotta keep the a/c, the summer is no joke down here.

I actually just put this tune in it, went up from the .67, It was actually a bit rich, but with the 60 i really didn't want to pull any fuel out until it was hooking a bit better.

I'm still a long way off where you and Andy are at right now, but it has been good for me to watch you progress and Andy has been a tremendous help so I'm confident Ill get there soon.

I didnt realize you were still running a 26 in tire. Your 60 would improve and I believe it would run better all the way through on a 28. Are you having the converter setup for the. 26 or you swapping to 28?

I was going to stick with the 26, but the tires I have are kinda old too, so replacing them isnt so much of a big deal, but I do have a spare set with a few passes on them that I was going to switch over, but I got those on the cheap so its still no big deal. I haven't pulled out/ordered the new converter yet, I was going to do that this week. I hadn't really considered moving up to the 28's (not that I'm against it, just thought I could get it done on these)

The taller sidewall of the 28 would work much better a d should help you in the. 60 ft especially with the 3.06 first gear of the. 4l60e. I would definitely consider going to a 28. When you start putting more jet in it you will be turning a lot of rpm . That is why we are swapping gear.

I have the 6 pinion 2.84 1st gear planet set. I still am not sure why I spent the cash on this thing but I imagine at some point it's gonna pay off. There are a lot of things I would have done differently had I known then what I know now, but hindsight is 20/20 lol. That being said i have gone 1.39 60ft before with the setup I have now, on the .67 jet but was thinking the tire was just done, (they are on their 3rd season lol) plus there is not much adjustment left in the car, i had thoughts of getting trz lca brackets and control arms and get the ones i have off to get some more adjustment but maybe 28s are a better way to go.

I dont think its far off at all. Small cam, 175 shot, 3500lbs with 135 traps is good.
