Default LS3 416. LS3 heads or TFS 235 heads?

What is the more expensive setup at the end of the day?

416 with ported LS3 heads, LS3 rockers, Injectors, intake, etc

or

416 with cathedral TFS 235 heads, LS1 Rockers, Injectors, FAST intake, etc

I'm assuming the cathedral heads will make a little more power under the curve but the price for the complete motor will be a lot more expensive?

I have about $10,000 saved up for the longblock + intake manifold right now. I'm looking for the more cost efficient setup.

In my eyes, the TFS is going to cost more with the heads being in the 2500 range and then having to use roller rockers because of the valve guides unless TFS has changed that. Then a FAST intake to boot.

I would use a FAST on either setup because you have a decent amount of cubes that would shine with a FAST intake.

Cammed correctly both motors will make great power from down low to redline.

You can use stock rockers with TFS heads if you run a shim. I thought there wasn't a huge difference between the stock LS3 intake and the FAST 102? Guess I will do more research on the intake.

Which MAST heads? They make a cathedral and rectangular head.

Not to mention the intake valve on those heads is considerably smaller and valve shrouding is reduced.

I say go for mast if you have the cash, otherwise the tfs get my vote.

Or you could get the 260cc AFTERMARKET ls3 heads like I have.

I've got about 2 G's into my LS3 top end which is - new ported LS3 823 heads with dual springs .660 lift and manley valves, ls3 rockers/stands, ls3 intake/fuel rail. Seems like a hell of a deal when the bottom end is eating all the funds

Money wise I believe the LS3 topend will be cheaper. You have the bore and cubes for the LS3 heads to really shine with the right cam. Anything smaller I'd probably go cathedral

I think i'll save a little more for the TFS 235 heads. I already have the injectors and fuel rail to mount up for the cathedral heads.

As for the FAST thing on LS3 heads. I came to the conclusion after reading all the threads and doing research that if you are stock cube or have a small cam in a 400+cube motor it wasn't worth it to go to a FAST. You have to have a big cube motor with a decent cam.
