Default Voices of the Experinced..

So i decided not to do the LS7 build and just build on the LS1 block that is in the car, its not like i need any more tickets

So im going to proceed with my H/C/I

Cam: LS1 XR275HR-12

Intake: Thinking about maybe a Fast intake but what kind? or maybe a LS6.. What ever i do i would like to rid the car of EGR and is this simple to do with a car that wont be on a lift at all..

Heads: Thinking about 215cc AFR heads

Headers: Most likely to be Ebay headers because they are in my budget and they are stainless steal.

Id like to hear some input on the Intake and the Heads everything else i kinda have my mind set on.

I would go with a cheaper set of heads and get a decent set of headers.

Cheaper heads? Could you throw me a brand?

Headers are headers to me and the main thing I want is stainless. I'm mainly doing the headers for better flow and sound. Only other brands that offer stainless is two other brands *that I'd use* and both are way out of my price range..

Tsp sells prc heads that are cheaper than the trick flows, but aren't quite as good. But will still flow plenty for your setup.

Tsp also has their own brand of stainless headers which are a little less than Kooks or ahr but a a little more than ebay headers.

You could about break even, but you would have a better set of headers and a set of heads that will do more than suit your needs. Hell, you might even come out ahead and have a few hundred to put back for the fast intake.

IMO, heads are not one thing you go cheap on. Now, PRC does make a decent head. I have personally used their heads many times in the past, and when assembled, we never had an issue. They also make decent power.

I am a fan of their 235's, and also AFR 215's. RHS also makes a very good head.

As for an intake, depending on your timeframe and budget, we are working on an affordable option for intake manifolds. Pricing around the same as a FAST.

I have looked at the AFR's 215 heads

my other question would be, what would i be looking at power wise with stock LS1 heads P&P compared to an aftermarket head? this may sound like a stupid question but im still fairly new to heads

Edit will i have fitting issues with the 1 7/8's TSP for 130.00 more im considering the 1 7/8 over the 1 3/4. I dont want to do any modifications to the car to fit these headers in. mainly due to the fact that i lack the ability and mobility to do as such.

TSP made those headers for direct fit, soo you should NOT have any issue fitting them in.

Edit: Go with 1 7/8s

There are lots of guys on here making very good numbers on 243 heads from AI, PRC, TEA and EPS to same a few. I just don't think aftermarket castings are worth the extra money unless your going for an all out build.

MAST is supposed to be a kickass head. not modestly priced however.

i prefer to go with a FAST intake and a high quality LT like ARH.

I have thought of just doing LS6 swap.

Swap to LS6 heads, valley cover, and LS6 intake

It needs to be said. Cheap, Fast, Reliable.....pick two.
Your budget headers may be great now but in a year when the welds start to let go, not so much. Are you going to be happy with the power level your at with a stock head or spend the money on the heads now and save for better boltons later.
If you are going to be happy with a mid to low 400 rwhp then put a budget combo together, but if you think that six months from now you will want change then spend the money on one good peace that you can upgrade the rest of your build to.

I've seen plenty of people with budget heads getting close to 500rwhp with the right setup on 243's. Fine for a DD or weekend warrior without any reliability issues. I do agree though that aftermarket heads are better if you see the track a lot or if your going to spray. But the price difference between the two is huge and wasn't worth it for what I use my car for, which is a weekend warrior.

I have a set of ported 243's on my Z06. I have no complaints.

Pacesetter headers are awesome for their price too.

Fast 102's are awesome too. Definitely not cheap but its great. If not the Ls6 intake is good too and they can be bought fairly cheap.

I agree

It's always good to look through the dyno section for proven setups.
