Chevrolet El Camino and Nomad wagon to join the SS sedan?
Chevrolet SS variants in the Pipeline?
Just the Facts:
The VF Commodore sedan will be sold in the US as the 2014 Chevrolet SS. The Chevrolet SS, a rear-wheel-drive performance sedan, was unveiled to great fanfare on Saturday at the Daytona International Speedway. Chevrolet is selling a rear-wheel-drive sedan in the U.S. for the first time in 17 years.
The 2014 Chevrolet SS will arrive in U.S. showrooms in the fourth quarter, alongside a redesigned 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
Chevrolet told Edmunds that "at this point we can't confirm additional products joining the portfolio."
"The unveiling of the Chevrolet SS performance sedan this weekend has resulted in a lot of speculation that other performance variants may join the Chevrolet lineup," wrote Michael Albano, a Chevrolet spokesman, in response to an e-mailed query from Edmunds.
"At this point we can't confirm additional products joining the portfolio and I must add we are satisfied with a performance family that includes the Corvette, Camaro and now SS."
Holden said that all three Commodore body styles — sedan, Sportwagon and Ute — will go on sale at the same time in mid-2013.
"Our aim with VF was to challenge people's perceptions about our cars and get them excited about large cars again," said Brett Vivian, Holden chief engineer, in a statement.
Australia's Car Sales said Mark Reuss, GM president of North America, indicated the Commodore wagon may be under consideration for the U.S.
"It's a little bit late for Ute," he told Car Sales. "Some people think it'd be a really cool thing to do, but not at a high price. We could never sell it at the price it would need to be."
He added: "I'd love to have it (the Ute) here. We'd have it here in a second — we almost did. (But) The wagon we could charge more for, so it's not too late for the wagon."
Edmunds says: Enthusiasts fear that variants of the 2014 Chevrolet SS would dilute its impact. But the Holden VF Commodore Sportwagon and Ute do get the pulse racing.

If done right I could actually see these being big hits... I have noticed a lot more wagons being driven & just having the El Camino name being brought back should be a big hit like the 5th gen Camaro. Should be interesting 454 SS El Camino?

I've always been a huge fan of a "self-evident" naming structure. Think about BMW or Mercedes style names. Oh, you have a 325CI? You automatically know they drive a two door with the 2.5 engine. 318TI... ect. My car is a collection of metal. It doesn't need a sentimental name that makes it sound tough/dainty/contemporary or whatever those marketing people think.

I'm guessing you don't work in marketing do you? These types of cars are suppose to entice you with a cool name and good looks/power. If we viewed cars as just a "collection if metal" then we would all just go out and buy the cheapest car we could.
