Default VP Q16 racing fuel

Hi

has any one used this fuel

itīs hard to get racefuel here in Iceland but i can get a barrel of VP Q16

Q16 will work well in any drag racing application -- naturally aspirated, nitrous or blowers. Q16 is highly oxygenated, requiring a 4-6% increase in fuel flow, which will make 3-5% more power than competitive 116 octane fuels. Q16's oxygenation will significantly expand the range of air/fuel ratio acceptability, so performance will be more consistent and won't vary as dramatically with altitude or density changes. For bracket racers, variations in ET from run to run will be substantially reduced. This added fuel flow also effectively increases its octane by 6-8 numbers above its standard ASTM octane rating.

iīm thinking of it for my standalone fuel cell

We have used it before.
It is not a great fuel for nitrous.

Stick with C16.

E85 is not the same as Q16.

Q16 work very good for boosted cars.
Nitrous brings its own oxygen it doesnt need an oxygenated fuel to help it.
Made the tune up more sensitive, not what you want.

Agree nitrous and oxygenated fuels aren't the best mix.

Depends on compression, but 110 should be just fine.

It's not like it will blow your engine up or anything like that, but it is a lot more sensitive to fueling and timing changes. It just isn't the best gas to run with nitrous.

Martin. 10.7:1 static.

Debating on what to buy for my standalone. Stuck with 91oct here in Nebraska.

C16 is 17.74 per gallon here.

I got jets from Neal for 200-100 n2o size and close corresponding jets for low pressure standalone and C16. I'm guessing AFR will still be targeted around 11:5 WOT on the spray the spray

I normally target at least 12.0:1 afr on nitrous and majority of the time 12.5:1 afr.

Yes.
They each require different timing but the A/F should all be pretty close.

If you must try Q16 that is the only one I would run a little richer.

used Q16 on my old zx14 with an 80 shot. Q16 made more power on motor than C16. That was the only advantage for me.

I was reading this thread thinking the exact same thing. zx14 on the same shot with the same fuel. Picked up 3 tenths over pump gas using Q16 on motor. Wideband was dead on through the last 2 months of the season, and we tested in 30-90 degree weather. All we ever adjusted was the progressive to bring more spray on sooner, as the rider was more comfortable with it.

It will make more power on motor... it is bringing extra oxygen to the party.

It will work fine for smaller shots but like I said it makes the tune ups more sensitive.
There is a reason NO ONE that sprays alot of nitrous uses it. If it made more power or worked better they would and we would have stuck with it if it did.

We didnt just try it once, we used it for about 1/2 a season.

We've added a good bit of compression to our shop car and we may have to run c23 all the time now. Lifted a head and burnt number 7 at the sb nitrous nats last year getting after it.
