non vented opti, ewp what timing set? Le said to go with a pro gear sbc set but not sure witch one. Whats everybody running?

If you have a non-vented opti, you have little choice. The stock type set is the only one that will turn the opti. If you want freedom to choose other SBC type sets, you'll have to convert to a vented opti.

so just stock lt1 timing set? I've thought about converting but ive got to much money in this thing as it is.

A stock GM set is not a bad piece. You have essentially narrowed your choice to that, anyway.

That's purely up to you. Other factors have to be in place for you to do a swap to a vented opti.

cps sensor and the hole for the opti is slightly bigger i believe too, i used a stock timing set and jus replaced my chain though, not the best choice but at the time the build price was already way over my budget haha.

your car shouldn't have a crank position sensor i believe, i believe that was a 96-97 obd2 thing if im right, others might know better though...

That is a 95 cover. Vented opti and no CPS. Best choice for a swap, IMHO.

You don't have a CPS if you have a non-vented opti now. It would be nice if you made a signature with some car info, so people would have something to go by.

I know you said that, but if you posted car info, everyone would automatically know what opti you have. It's just smart to make a sig. It helps everyone, including you.

The MSD kit adds a vent for longevity, the stock set while much hated doesn't actually break and if you don't like how loose it is a $20 Cloyes lower gear can solve that or I believe Lunati does make a "non-vented" timing set.

Even if the stock timing set left something to be desired taking the WP load off of it would help make it last better.

Any time I have ever seen a picture of a Lunati set, it had the stock GM part stampings on it. IDK if they used a GM pic or what, but it sure looks like a stock set. In the past, the only other set that I have seen that would seem to be appreciably better was made by Doug Rippie and was very expensive.

Cloyes 9-3145 DR is strong and inexpensive. You may need to slightly clearance the inside of the timing cover. A Cloyes 9-3157 is a single roller that will fit with no modifications. I'm assuming you read through the list of things needed for the conversion and know you can't retain the stock cam.

I think im going with the cloyes one part number is 9-3145 and the other is 9-314-5, not sure why that is
