Default Need exhaust help...

Ok my 2002 WS6 has a custom exhaust my Mechanic made and installed for me. The problem is its choking my motor and this is not cool.I have a 408 I don't want ruined. I'm looking at some exhaust system's but I'm having a hard time deciding what to get. I don't want my car ridiculously loud.. I like it loud don't get me wrong but I also like to hear my music. So some input on what I should look at would be appreciated.

I would do 3" True Duals with a 3" X pipe to begin with. I think a 3" magnaflow would sound reaaal good or a GGMG.

Personally I went with a 3" X with 4x12 cherrybomb glasspacks. Sounds pretty good and not too much drone while driving and it sounds like a bat out of hell during WOT.

Hey Sunset, welcome to LS1tech!

I also have a cat-back Magnaflow exhaust. It's pretty quiet to me but it does sound nice.

Why do you say your exhaust is choking your motor? What is it that your mechanic made?

Are there any other modifications to this car?

Hey ty! its choking it because he used 2 and 1/2 inch pipe and put a stock cat back on it. I asked him to tone it down a bit cuz when i was racing the car i had a custom h pipe style setup dumping at the axle. But he took what i said a little to literally good thing we have bin buds 18years... im worried its going to detonate my motor..Im also putting all my light weight mods back in lol. Ac, front bumper support, back seats and a tone more stuff i had yanked out lol. Thankfully I kept everything I took out over the years. Yes I do have more mods done then what I shared. I tend to not share everything due to nit picking in the past on sights i use to be on. I put my blood sweat and tears into my car not to mention breaking my pocket doing it. And also had some great people contributing there own time to help out also

When windows are rolled up u can definitely tell its dumped at the axle, you have a little in cabin vibration just from the exhaust but it's not a ridiculously loud drone, when the windows are rolled down or if you have the T top of the vibration goes away but you can definitely hear the exhaust so it a little sacrifice but I can still hear my music and have a conversation without any issues or blowing out my ear drums lol :-)

Check out the Hooker Aerochamber catback. It is one of the quieter exhausts and still flows well.
