Default Codes: P0133 & P0153 (Sensor Circuit Slow Response)

My 2002 WS6 has been throwing the two codes P0133 and P0153 (Sensor Circuit Slow Response) for a few months now. I just replaced the o2's with new Denso 234-4025 and I still have the codes. My gas millage has been crappier then usual and my idle has been acting funny. Sometimes it will "float" up and down a little. I don't believe I have any exhaust leaks either. My friend hooked up his gauge to my car and both o2's read about 450mv at idle. Any ideas?

Interesting....so they are staying steady at 450mv? They should be switching fairly rapidly between like 150-900mv, back and forth, back and forth. I would double check the connections and make sure they aren't corroded. If it is stuck and 450mv it likely means an issue with an open in the signal or ground wires.

If your rears are deleted they scanner will be reading a constant 44-45. You sure you are looking at the right 02's? Other wise bad wiring, bad engine fuse, or defective 02 sensors.

My car threw the codes, replaced the sensors and nothing. Switching fine, but some cars just wont stop. You can't stop the ses with a tune.

I had the rear o2's deleted with the mail order tune a few years ago. The o2's were staying steady at 450mvv at idle when we tested them. I gave the car a bit of gas and they started jumping around. Engine fuse was good. A few months ago after I installed a new clutch I forgot to tie up the drivers side o2 and it burnt my o2 extension wire. Two wires were bare but I taped them up and that extension is still on there. The codes I'm tossing show both bank 1 & 2 which mean both o2's so that burnt wire should have tossed just bank 1 you would think. Unless I shorted the PCM. This weekend I will check all connections and make sure there is no corrosion.

I know this thread is a couple of months old, but the reason your getting those codes are the Denso sensors. Trust me. I went though this headace at arond the same time, I wasn't sure what was up. I know denso sensors are supposed to be good sensors, but they are having a bad run or they just do not like the PCM's in our cars.

I had the same problem throwing code p0153 for slow reponse/switching after I had to replace my bosch sensor after the hearter wire was damaged.
I orginally though I got a bad sensor so the warrentied it for me. Same deal.

I just went though this again with a buddies 98 WS6. He had a bad o2 and replaced it with a Denso and had the same code pop up almost right away, 2 drive cycles. P1133 Slow response. I tossed a Bosch back in and the problem dissapeared, it car has now over 500 miles on it and the problem never came back.

I know there is a lot of guys that are for Denso's, they are supposed to be built better and whatnot but our cars just do not like them. If you want your problems to go away do yourself a favor and get Bosch sensors.

Quick Reply: Codes: P0133 & P0153 (Sensor Circuit Slow Response)
