Default 12.5" slicks

Figured I'd post here and get quicker replies.

Will a 12.5" slick fit under the rear with a 10" rim and 7.5" backspacing?

Or will it require rolling the fender and possibly a BFH.

It depends on the sidewall height. A 12.5" tire is equivalent to a 315. MOST 315s do require some fender rolling, bumpstop removal, etc.

The only need I see to run a slick that wide is either A.) You have a bazillion horsepowers or B.) You have a poorly setup suspension.

No reason you can't get the traction you need on a MUCH smaller tire IF the suspension is dialed in properly, which is FAR MORE IMPORTANT than the tires.

The reasons why I got 12.5" is because the 11.5" is not recommended for a 10" inch rim?

These are them.

Here is the 11.5"

Starting to wondering if I should exchange the 12.5s.

I have no rear end in my car right now, still have till next week before it ships, so I can't test fit them.

Considering guys with 2000 hp are going low 6s in the 1/4 on a 10.5 inch tire, I think 12.5 is overkill for your setup and will look poserish.

I used to run a 26"x10.5"x16 on an 8" wheel. Can't comment on whether it will fit on anything wider than that.

Tire rack has a great section saying the max and min rim width for the specific tire.

I've run a 26x10.5x16 and a 27x10.5x16 on 8" salad shooters. Why are you stick on this 10 inch wheel?

If you made more power and used a Trans brake you would understand. A foot brake ten second car needs nothing more than a set of nine inch radials.

I mean I could send the 10in rims back and get a smaller rim.

Don't use a narrower wheel. Use the 10" wheels with those tires. My 10.5" tires were faster on 12' wheels. I have my 12.2W MTs (Just under 13" wide) in 14" wide wheels.

So I should just exchange the 12.5 for 11.5 or 10.5? I cruise on the weekends so I kinda wanted a DOT tire so I don't get pulled over for that.

Also the wheels are 10.275" weld rts

Because 11.5 wasn't recommended on a 10" rim and they don't make a et street 10.5"

In 28in tall.

I will be running 4.10s possibly nitrous. Was recommended for a 28in tall tire.

I think I'm going to exchange for a 10.5". But 28" or 26"?

I would say a 275/60r15 drag radial would be perfect for you. It'll fit a 10" wide wheel just fine and give you your 28" tire. And you can drive them anywhere. M/T sells em

What do you mean they don't make a 10.5" et street? What have I been using the past 4 years? Why do you want a 28" tire? Once again, you don't have enough hp. Gregrob was spraying a 200 shot on a LE trickflow headed 355 and had to downsize to a 26" tire because 28 was too big and he just bogged. Who is giving you this tire advice?

I've posted a few threads on here and some respected guys recommended this stuff.

Gregrob told me 28".

Search the topic gears for nitrous.

Quick Reply: 12.5" slicks
