Default 85 turdbird going 4l80 4.8 turbo

Ok guys I decided to do a write up on my car. I have owned the car for ten years and it has sat in a feild for the last 5 years. So my red car turned pink........ I had a sc 414 sbc to go in but decidedlsx. So the car will start with a 4.8 that I got cheap from a friend. And a 4l80 I picked up for $400. A friend helped put a shift kit in. So hopefully the trans holds for now. Ill try to post picks later but I'm at tye point of just trying to get the car painted so I can assemble it. Car is going crystal red. To this point car was with a friend at no limit which is in lakeland fl. He put the 8point cage in for me and all of my suspension from bmr I have collected over the years. Car has full bmr........ everything on the rear with a stock 9 bolt disc rear. I also picked up a bmr swap kmember with arms and put that in. Will post picks again later. Car is going manual steering using a truck gear box. Motor details are ebay $67 headstuds with a h3 pan and ls6 cam. Stock truck otherwise. Arp flexplate bolts with tci flexplate and arp converter bolts on stock converter. Will upgrade injectors after I get it running. A friend of mine cory stripped the van harness. So I'm now waiting to finish prep so a member here can paint the car. Will post more as I go. Ask me if you have any questions. Thanks for following stephen...

made a little progress last couple days...

a little primer

then GM Crystal Red (505Q paint code, tri-coat system)

base

then mid-coat

then the shiny coat

loving this color. it sprayed out awesome, and looks great. nice and deep in low or indirect light, but it just pops and shimmers in the light. I have yet to see it in person in the sunlight. He sent me the daytime pics today. I can't wait to see the rest of the car in it. haven't seen this color on a third gen yet. should look great withe the graphite pieces to contrast. he has the engine and trans ready to go in the car. they started on that today. he will be tidying things up on the mechanical end and I will be finishing the final body and paint work. he didn't set out to build a show car, but I wasn't going to let him get this far in it and half-*** it :p

BTW for those who haven't figured it out, the things sticking out of the engine bay are the swing out door bars for the cage. I took them out to paint them to get around them better, and Steve got a little creative on placing the stuff so I could get to it lol. I though the bottle location was the funniest

But took a break so took the truck and a friend with rx7 and in the mountains playing on the dragon and a few of they skyways. Will have to get all of these pics loaded up somehow when I get back.
