Help identifying source of coolant leak - 2002 Camaro v6
Hi,
I have a 2002 Camaro v6 3.8L, with almost 170,000 miles on it.
Yesterday, something "popped" in the engine compartment and the car started smoking & steaming. It burned through all of the coolant in the system and through the quarts of water I added to limp home a couple of miles.
I haven't started the car since I got home last night. I got the car up on jack stands today and dried up the mess in the engine compartment. I removed the radiator cap and added three or so quarts of water. When it got to the point where the liquid should be visible in the radiator neck, it started pouring out somewhere "downstream".
I eventually located the source of the leak ... as seen in the attached picture. Can anyone tell me what that part is?
Thanks,
--- KC

That's a plastic coolant elbow they get brittle and crack. Even new ones can do it. You can get the aluminum problem solvers at just about any parts store, comes in pairs. There's another one further to the passenger side of that tensioner set for the heater hoses.
