Default Cleaning Oil out of the intake and buildup on heads?

I just pulled the intake off of my 434 stroker ls3 to change around the billet fuel rails and hose a little bit. I recently capped off all of the hoses venting the crackcase into the intake and put breathers on both valve covers. I am going to clean the oil and grime out of the intake and maybe paint it while it is off. I also want to clean the build up and grime out of the intake ports on the heads without removing them. What is the best approach to clean those up without getting it all in the combustion chamber? Any tips or tricks would be much appreciated, and what materials to use to get the job done right?

a shop vac with a tiny hose to put down in the ports to suck up the carbon while you use a small brush to cleaan them is how I do it.

as for the intake, some may or may not like this BUT
Oven Cleaner. that **** will get all that crap out, just soak the **** out of it and rinse it out with water a few times, then dry it out. if you got a leaf blower or air compressor thats how id dry it.
