Default How much should I expect for an OEM repaint?

Hi everyone my paint has a lot of imperfections and once you are up close and looking at it you can definitely tell.

If I were to stick with the same OEM white paint, how much would I expect?

I'm guessing it would be cheaper since they would not have to do the engine bay, interior, etc. :]

The shop I work in starts oem repaints at about 2k. Some may be a little less, alot of shops will charge quite a bit more.

He's just referring to a repaint in the factory color, using the GM paint code. No need to do jambs that way unless they are absolutely fucked.

i would start at 3000 but that is just to and and paint. once you start fixing dents, repairing chips, any other body work the price goes up. also make sure whoever does it removes bumpers, moldings, door handles and such. makes a better job!

Shouldnt be over $3k unless you have a lot of dents and deep scratches.

Haha the power of 7s!!!!

And yeah, just wanting to get it repainted.
The body is pretty straight, and I have one small dent from a shopping cart, and only one scratch from someone keying the car when the original owner had it. :o

2500-3000 is not gonna get a good job. A oem type job to be able to look at it and not tell it was done is gonna be close to 4000. If it is less than 3000 it's getting skimped on somewhere. No one repaints perfect cars so I am assuming there is some damage in need of repair be it small dents and/or paint peeling chipping/clear letting lose. I do this for a living out of a shop at my house. That would include buffing it up to remove any dust in the paint. That would be a quality job with quality paint.

I've been painting cars for about 15 years now, I would charge somewhere around $3,000-$3,500 but it also depends on color, body work, and just how "perfect" you are looking for. I color sand and buff every car I do but those wanting a "show" quality finish I spend much longer on.

Awesome I appreciate the info guys, I'm probably going to be painting my 87 Cutlass first, since its still the original paint. (Which is beginning to crack, clear coat peeling, etc.).

I have to agree that if you want a nice job done it will be at least $3k. At a shop it will likely be more, esp if there's body work involved.

The price of materials has skyrocketed over the last few years unfortunately. So when you find a place willing to do it for cheap, they're probably cutting corners on materials.

As long as there isnt a lot wrong with the paint you have 3k is a reasonable price. Ive seen many paint jobs where the customer told the paint shop that price wasn't an issue and they ended up with crap paint jobs for way too much. Best thing to do is look at other work that the painter has done. As far as the Cutlass goes dont be surprised to pay about 5k as the paint that is there has issues and will have to be sanded all the way back to remove all the cracks and peeling as you wont want that to show back up after new paint cures
