Seems it's my first post here, though I read forum for a few years.
I have '01 Firebird convertible which I was going to paint matte white. Flat clear over flat 'fluorescent' white = VERY white and the feeling is amasing: car parts looks like made from plaster and in direct sunlight it just hurts eyes to look.
And here is a sad part of the story. Basically, I've done hood and trunk (painted it myself), then was too busy to continue for a few weeks... All this time car was used extensively with ~5k miles cross-country trips and few visits to mechanics. So, the trouble is that with flat clear over white (at least, the one I've used) it is impossible to completely remove some kinds of dirt (especially from dirty mechanics' hands).
So, I'd recommend you to try the paint first on some unrelated part (i.e. on a spare side mirror, fuel tank cap, etc.). Let it dry completely and then do some 'tests' with greasy hands, road dirt, and so.
I still think it is an amazing color and might finish the job if I'll find a tougher clearcoat...

In my experience as a painter, flat colors suck becuse they are way harder to clean than gloss paint/clear, and you cant buff on them or then it becomes shiny. I would never do it. Just my opinion.
