Default pipe dreams... grudge car

i have been thinking alot of my car breaking after its back together and what would i do if/ when that would happen...

i would like to build a high powered grudge car out of the tank of a GTO

i already have a midframe 78 from turbonetics and thought of getting a second for twin 78 build..

i wouldnt want to go big cubes on the motor so something 390-410 ci 6bolt heads o ringed and high boost 25+

would be hoping for 1500+ hp through a 4l80e it will be a "street" car after all...

what do you guys think.. i know its a strecth to think it will ever happen but if.. thats the path i would take

what path would you take if it was you in that place

enjoy the pipe dream!

Out of curiosity, 1500hp is cool but surely that is waaaay more power than you will ever get a street GTO to hook on the track. Figure out how much you think you can get the car to handle and lay down some 8 sec 1/4 mile times, getting 20mpg's and that would be way more impressive than a 1500hp car that can get down the track. Look at the ZR1's that get their asses handed to them daily at the track.

I'm not sure if there is any 8 second GTO's that LOOK like a street car. They are a good looking car and that would be sick! Regardless, good luck with it.

Travis's GTO (tbonesgoat, I believe) is a street driven car with AC and looks beautiful, and from the outside, pretty damn stock. Its and 8 second car.

That car is a beast man. Looks, performance and street drivable. Cant get bettee than that. With money its very possible, not saying money is the MAIN factor but not too hard to accomplish.

ugh thanks for taking the fun out of it...

yes there is a few very few gtos that have been 8s I think they are all in about the 1100 hp range and are high 8s..

why do "street" car make everyone get scared so easy it would never be a daily driver but more of a power tour/ grudge car... 1500 wouldnt be a set number either i was just putting that out there as a high power goal that would be crazy...

4000 lbs needs the power to get moving and this was all about pipe dreams anyway...

i know 1000 hp will be hard to get to hook up let alone 1500 so why not go big or go home..

have fun with this guys its free to dream

I'd definitely be putting a solid axle under it. Not a fan of the gto irs at all, although a few have made it work decently. Twin s366's or twin 6768's would be nasty, may not get to 1500 through an auto though.

My old GTO had over 1000rwhp and had A/C and all of the accessories. I did the first 9" SRA swap too. The car is a M6 not auto, but it was still a handful. 1500hp is a pipedream for sure, the difference between 700hp & 1000hp is night & day I couldn't imagine 1500 "useable" horsepower on the street. We did a mini-tub on my car when we set up the 9" and it would light up the tires at 130mph! It wasn't cheap...or easy but it would fly! Search my username to see build pics. 408 with twin T70's.

The guy I sold it to put a vid up on Youtube -

the 1500 wouldnt be used on the street it would be turned down

with twin 78s and it turned down i would rarely even see boost driving it anyway
