'95 Camaro LS swap...I tried to tell ya I was doin it
I signed up here on LS1Tech a few months back with some newbie questions about doin a swap from LT1 to a 6 liter in the '95 Camaro. Well, I was met with very little help, and I dont blame ya, who gives a **** what I have right? This swap has been actually pretty straight forward, easy and not even all that expensive (relatively speaking).....I'll post up some pictures of the swap, if yall care to see.
I'm down to my last task in this swap...and I (after you see the swap I have done) hope I have earned enough 'street cred' for someone educated to chime in, without your e-***** please, on a reputable vendor for the ENGINE WIRE HARNESS. I have talked to a couple places, and I get various feed back...from having to swap the entire under-dash harness to 'just use your LT1 harness'....here is what I have (or dont have) and what I am doing
1995 LT1 B4C optioned car
Installed a 2003 LQ4
All the neccesary swap hard parts, like k-member..rack yada yada
NOT using the following: AC, Knock Sensors, electronic transmission
and DO NOT have any engine harness currently
what I DO use/have:
all factory sensors i.e. coolant temp, oil press, iac, tps, crank, cam
using a powerglide trans, and all factory body wiring is intact, less the factory shifter stuff...and would like to retain the OE intrument cluster.
this car is going to be drag raced only...no real plans of street driving whatsoever...but I am trying to keep is "stock appearing" in alot of aspects...
so..with that being said (and maybe I have forgot some details) I am looking to build a wire harness for this application. there HAS to be someone on the planet that has done a similar swap!
pictures coming! thanks guys in advance for your feedback

Not sure when we talked, but there must have been a misunderstanding as we don't do any harness conversion, we make brand new harnesses. Give me a call at 732-691-6531 to discuss. I am sure we could help. Really CLEAN build by the way!

Hey ther Jon, thanks for the kind words!
And maybe I was confused in our conversation, however I now possess an OE harness from a very low mile donor '02 Camaro (since I started this thread I was able to find this harness) so now what?? damn I wish a carb would work on this build...I know how to do that kinda set up!

Looks like you might have your harness stuff taken care of, but John at PSI is very easy to work with and has given me some pretty good advice.

If you are trying to wire this car up to be Carb'd and use the Factory Gauges....not going to work.
The Oil Pressure & Fuel will work, Water Temp might work if you can somehow adapt the LT1 Single Wire to the LS Head. Speedo wont unless you adapt some kind of Electronic Conversion Box to the Trans, and that Box will have to have an adjustable pulse output. If there is a Tach Output on that MSD then that can be wired to work. Volt Gauge is just a wire tied into a ign wire thru the Harness..in the LS Stuff it's tied into the Red Alternator Wire.
It's easy going EFI..and many of us on this planet do the wiring..all mine are direct plug-n-play and work. I took a 1999 Harness and worked it over to make it happen. I've used the same Harness I have in three different cars with no issues.
The only thing with yours is you will need some kind of a VSS Input..I would use the ABS Reluctor on the Front Hub and wire it into the Harness. If you have a good Tuner they will know how to compensate for this. If you have some kind of electronic box that can work with the Powerglide that will be better IMO.

Thanks for the info Merv...I've read thru your sticky before...and going over it again now, just incase i missed something. I'm not real worried about the speedo...however would like all the other gauges to be operational. I dont plan on using a Carb...ever...so no need for that path whatsoever lol the more I look at this harness, the easier it appears to be to make this work...

awesome! I will probably be a pest to ya in the coming weeks..if you dont mind lol! i'm not gonna be tackling this myself tho, a local shop has agreed to a 'sponsorship' kind of thing and they are 'trained in the ways of the force' on these LS wiring harnesses....he just hasnt done the LT to LS conversion stuff before.

Beautiful car.
That elbow off your TB looks slick, but if you can find a Firehawk, WS6, or Suncoast ram air box.....it will seal up to your super cool Ultra Z hood and probably make more power. You also have plenty of room to do an LS1 lid and something like the Mega Mouth ram air from underneath especially since it's a race car and no AC.
