Default Big tube and fin on condensor change to b&m 70264 dope style.

Since I am putting an ssra kit on my car and plan on keeping ac, I figured I should get a new cooler mounted dope style. Will my trans temps change if I do this? I am able to read temps through the pcm via my scan gauge so I would be able to see the difference. I know sitting in traffic there would be no flow going to the cooler but when I'm moving will the dope style cooler cool my trans better than my current set up?

Im ordering the b&m 70264 trans cooler tonight I think, car has a tube and fin style on it. I've read that the other style is alot more efficent. Hopefully in a month ill have some real feedback.

I run one dope style, it works fine for the most part, but I'd still like to see it run cooler. In average driving its in the 150 - 170 area.

The only time it ever presented a problem was on the dyno, since the car was "steady state" the cooler did not get ample airflow. I have thought about going to a thin tube and fin and get it back in front of the fans, but haven't done it yet

I moved the same cooler from on-condenser to "dope"
(or similar at least) and didn't notice much difference
but I was more after getting the radiator airflow up.
Which one less layer on the stack, would do.

If you want to go it one better, zip-tie a couple of
12V muffin fans to the cooler so as to draw through,
and leave it "dope" position. But if you run the main
fans full time like I do, it'll get enough draft to do
the job.

That's pretty much the same findings I had. I have thought about buying a small fan and mounting to the cooler in the "dope" position. I just haven't determined the way I want to go yet.

$25 fan on ebay. Its generic. Works great. When I moved the cooler into the front bumper the temps skyrocketed, much to my surprise. The fan regained the airflow in an otherwise non-air movement area of the car. Temps run about 70-90 steady over ambient. Meaning if its 50 out, then the trans is prolly 130 etc.

if I dont like how my car is after the ssra / tranny cooler move ill try a fan in that location.

Do you keep the fan on all the time?
