Default Gear about to go

I have a 2000 Australian Caprice with 300K kilometers and the gear is having problems. The car has ls1 engine and 4l60e gear. The problem is that it slams into 2nd gear, all the other gear shift fine. Its a neck snapping shift. It does it both cold and hot (warmed up).

Here are some possibilities:

1. The 1-2 accumulator piston or spring are broken. This is easily checked - drop the pan and filter and remove just the three bolts for the round accumulator housing.

2. Due to a code, the PCM is running the trans at max line pressure which is giving you very firm shifts. At least scan the PCM for engine and trans codes.
