Default t56 tailshaft speedo housing mod

I am just letting you guys know what i have experienced from a "true" car guy... I am somewhat ocd in keeping my OG guages for my my 85 Grand Prix LS1 t56 swap. i researched and found that i either replaced my analog guages for electronic versions or i send out my t56 tailshaft housing to get modded for the speedo drive. I chose the latter because i wanted to keep my stock guages. Dan aka alloy... http://www.t56cablespeedometer.com/ is awesome!! He answered all my questions and did it quickly. And compared to what other companies are charging it is a bargain!! I sent him my tailshaft housing after contacting him and it arrived yesterday looking clean, it also came with instructions!! i would recommend him in heartbeat!!

What does the other side of the housing look like?
Is the insert just "glued in" or is it welded in?

it actually is epoxied in on that side and doesn't go through to the "other" side. I have researched it for a while and his good reviews were good enough for me.. I originally was going to go with this setup but my cheapskate a*# decided it was too much!!

Huh, I am surprised that is doesn't go all the way through.
I do a similar modification to add the mechanical out-put but the insert is welded in and goes all the way though.

Merv it's not, the lighting makes it look like it is..... Chicago pics please just interested lol! Everything i researched was way to much! I reassembled my Trans yesterday and am pleased with Dan's services. I think some options are better then the companies overpriced parts, makes it hard for the normal guy with a family to build something...

Click on the link in my signature.
There are pictures in my build thread that show the through-hole that was machined.

Not to say that Dan does not do a good job or anything; when I "engineered" the design to add the mechanical gearing, I wanted the aluminum sleeve to be welded to the housing.

yeah i know but i even though my OG guages aren't the best looking i still wanted to keep the original theme. Only guage i have a left is the tach to make work with the LS engine. Chicago TDP do you offer this service? I probably would have contacted you if i ran across it.... But i'm not gonna wish i went this way instead of the other... I did find someone who was willing to help at the right price.with good reviews to boot! i guess i have to see what happens, i'm confident on my decision..

I do housings on the side...I was going to be a vendor on here but I only do a housing month at best...really only about 10 a year.

I think I should have done what others have and solicited more but it is more just a hobby and service to others that need help. Not getting rich off of anything car related!
