Default Forged Iron 370 / AFR 225's / Truck Manifolds / CRT5088

Well, things are finally starting to look up again.

Those of you that followed my last build
https://ls1tech.com/forums/forced-in...olds-pt88.html
know that I had to park the car for a while as work was pretty slow. Now that I'm working for Redline, I'm getting the itch again and have the cash flow to start playing again.

Just to be clear, the car is up and running right now with the old setup. While I have no hard scientific data to back it up, I'm certain that the PT88 is choking the motor out up top when it's cranked all the way up.

I've also got a few lessons to apply that I have learned. For this reason and due to the changes, I've decided to make a new thread.

So here is the new run down:
LQ9 370 ci Iron block (.030 over)
Eagle Forged Stock stroke crank
Childs & Albert Forged 6.125 rods
Wiseco K392X3 Forged 25cc dish
Livernois Stage 2 Cam (232/232 .595/595 114)
AFR 225 CNC ported w/ some additional bowl work by Mamo
FAST 90 Intake
NW90 TB
Forward facing 6.0 Truck Manifolds
2.5" mandrel bent hot "Y" into T6 flange
CRT5088 Turbo with 1.XX A/R T6 Exh Housing
4" Mandrel Exhaust into 4" Magnaflow bullet
24"X12"X6" Bellcore A2A Intercooler

Fueling is handled by:
120# Low Imp Holley Inj
Holley Billet BRFPR
Holley Billet Dominator 1800 Fuel Pump
-10 feed and -10 return

Engine Management:
Holley Dominator ECU

The new star of the build is this little fellow from Chris Watkins at Custom Racing Turbos.

It uses a billet 88mm Garrett compressor wheel, the GT50 turbine and will be in a T6 housing. This should alleviate a bunch of back pressure up top. Still haven't decided on the Exhaust housing A/R.

Also new to this build is going to be the Burkhart Front Bumper Support Cage. I need this in order to move things forward a little more to make room for the slightly larger turbo. I've wanted to do this anyway because the pusher fan thing is just not working for me down here in Florida in the summer and no matter how much I'm told that these cars run 210-220 from the factory, I don't like seeing over 200 on the gauge.

Anyone that may be interested, my PT88 is for sale and I even have a brand new T6 housing that I had coated to go along with it.

Carlos, this sounds like a good choice. What's the physical size compared to a GT 50?

My understanding is that it's the same size as the GT47 with a T6 exhaust housing. It is supposed to be more compact than say the S488's and flow a little more exhaust. That's pretty much the main reason that I opted for this turbo vs a BW S4XX-Hybrid even though it was a bit more $$$.

Not so much that it's getting old as I wasn't doing it right. I'd like to be able to run that same 8.9 number without the motor having to work so hard. Less backpressure allows you to make more power without lifting the heads. Also allows for more timing and is easier on the exhaust valve spring.

In to follow along Los! Im pretty excited to see how your car runs with the better matched turbo and being able to open your tuning as you mentioned. Should be a blast.

Motor is built and in the car running. Next go around it will be getting a 6 bolt block. If the motor stays together long enough, I'll likely switch to a new set of Mast 6 bolt Heads first as my AFR's have already out lived a few motors from my nitrous days. It's also an opportunity thing. If a killer deal comes along that's on my long term list, it'll get bumped to the front of the line.

Man, I wish there was a way to run that Edelbrock or the Holley highrise without losing the wipers. I know that my FAST is at least seeping under boost between the layers.

Chris is a great guy. I live by his shop and he upgraded my pt88 recently. I'm ready to see what this car will do now.
