Properly indexing new front shock/spring assembly before removing old from the car
Are there any guidelines to getting the front spring/shock assembly put together correctly so the shock bolt holes lines up when the mount is bolted in up top?
I figure I could speed up the actual install if I had the new assemblies put together beforehand, but I could just wait until I have the old assemblies out of the car to use as a guide if that would be best.
I learned the hard way on my old 98 that you can't just stick it together and expect everything to line up

The alignment of the upper mount compared to the bottom mounting points of the shock. If that is rotated then the shock bolt holes won't line up with the holes on the control arm, and trying to rotate the shock with the spring not compressed is almost impossible.

If you are having a shop put your springs on your front struts, have them orient your upper mount to be even with the bottom bolts of the strut where it mounts to your A-arm. If for some reason it is off, no worries, because you can put the whole deal in a vice and muscle it a few turns of the spring one way or another. But its alot easier if you just have the shop do it.
