Default Time for a new Opti. Any Suggestions?

It's that time again... seems like 70,000 miles was just 5 years ago. It's been a while since I had to do this and was wondering if a GM unit was still the way to go(so expensive). I have a 1993 model. Has anyone had any experience with Summit Racing PN SUM-850059 ? (its cheap.) I'm going more for a daily driver than a race car, but what about the MSD units? I've heard varying reviews about them. Any one have any suggestions?

1. GM or Delphi
2. MSD

Nothing positive for
Accel
Cardone
E-bay junk

Chandler Motorsports has some positive feedback on the net.

What happened to it? They go way over 100,000 miles all the time.

I hope MSD has addressed their issues by now. Have not been exactly trouble free for many of my customers.

Where are you finding an ac delco opti? Its delphi units now and they are pretty shitty.

MSD's are pretty damn good now a days. The older ones were trash, no doubt.

MSD cap and rotor kit on existing base.
treat it like a tuneup on older engines, just a cap and rotor.

I wouldn't put the MSD base on if I got it free.

https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/mor...361&cc=1035908

433 bucks.

445 bucks.

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_1...0125xMPALLx028

480 bucks from Sears? O.o ROFL.

By the way that was really hard. Typed in Google AC Delco Optispark.

I bought my car with a MSD changed like 8k before I got it, test drove it 3 times. Bought the car, 2nd day home the Optispark took a crap. Tried a Chandler Motorsports, didn't work. Put in a Ac Delco been fine for years now.

I should find Chandler and throw the Optispark through his window.

Delphi should be the same thing as an AC Delco.

This is the set up I ran for years. Zero issues. New owner put a complete MSD opti unit it at end of last year. We'll see how it runs this year. I think he made a mistake.

If you're stock AC Delco/Delphi.

If you're modded and spinning anywhere near 7000 rpm MSD.

I now have a GM opti and the chandler is my backup.
